Some faces to look for if you are new to the Bee Team rides!

Gary Stone (Coach) and Melissa Meredith (Head Banger)

When Coach is not rounding up stray cyclists around Union County and inviting them to ride with the Bee Team, he likes to knit sweaters and socks for stray dogs and cats.  He is also a recognized leader in the art of gabbing on the bike while others are gasping for a breath!  Coach can handle all Bee Team questions and is the dedicated ride leader for the team.

Head Banger is our team "Mom" and dare devil, she goes through helmets the way Coach goes through yellow yarn!  You can see HB hanging around the front of the pack normally, but if she gets going you might see her cutting through a field or laying on a gravel road cussing like a sailor on a short weekend leave.  If you see her laying down, please pick her up and dust her off and send her on her way, tks!

Jack and Joanna Nelson

The Dean (Jack) and Joanna are two more faces you will see quite often at Bee Team rides.  Be aware however that if the Dean is leading a ride you will be doing some climbing.  Called the ol' Billy Goat by many behind his back (ok, Hill Climber primarily) he has a knack for finding the hilliest line between two points.  Great training routes and directions provided by the Dean via his built in GPS system, amazing.

HC2.jpgIf you see this sight during a ride, then pull over and get yourself a coke and a gel.  You are obviously on the verge of bonking and you need to get some carbs into your system quickly!  This is HC, and if you are back here riding with the Hill Climber then you have just left the main pelaton and are now riding in...(wait for it)....THE DROP ZONE!  Don't worry, HC knows the way back home for the most part, and if not he has standing orders with the Waxhaw search and rescue team to come looking for him, so help will be here soon.
