Weekly Rides with the Bee Team

The Bee Team fall/winter rides will be the same time and place every weekend, excluding monthly event rides listed on the Ride Calendar page. If the temperature is below 40 degrees when the ride is to begin, it will be a show and go ride. If rain is expected during the ride, it will be show and go. Bee Team “show and go” = those who show up make a plan and ride. Rides start from the Waxhaw Elementary School (1101 Old Providence Rd, Waxhaw, NC 28173,off Providence Rd S.).

* Saturday mornings at 8:00am
* Sunday afternoons at 5:00pm

* Note: Helmets and road bikes are required.

MILEAGE for both weekend rides is approx 25-35, with longer optionsavailable on the Saturday rides. When large groups show up to ride, we generally break the group into subgroups according to preferred riding speed. The faster group will average 17-18 mph, with speeds in excess of 20 mph on flat stretches. The more moderate group, or groups, average 15-16 mph. NO DROP POLICY. We do make an effort to sweep these rides. Please ride with the group most suitable for your riding abilities.

  • Bee Team Saturday Morning 30 Miler and 45 Miler, minimum average 14mph.

    ** This ride is not a beginner ride.

    An increasingly popular Saturday morning ride with few significant
    hills and plenty of beautiful countryside. Starting from Waxhaw
    Elementary School at 8:00am

    Good training ride starting at 8:00am. The 45 mile route splits off from the
    30 mile route at the Deli (old Belk Store) on Plyer Mill Rd (at mile 12),
    and takes in sweet-riding Stack Road. The route includes moderate
    hills.

  • Bee Team Sunday Afternoon Leg Stretcher

    As our Sunday rides often draw a large crowd, we need to ride out on Sunday with subgroups based on average speed.

    The FAST group, 18+ mph, will leave first

    The FUN group, 15-17mph, will leave second, a few minutes later

    The CASUAL group will include  all riders who wish to ride at a slower pace.

    If you are new to cycling or getting back in shape after a long absence, Sunday afternoon Bee Team rides are a good place to bee. Bee prepared to ride 25 miles, however.

    ** If you are new to our group and have questions about the pace, distances, number of rest stops, etc. then send an email to:  Riderhelp@TheBeeTeam.org
